About OffGridPick

Off-grid power and portable energy affect how you camp, travel, and prepare for emergencies. Whether you're powering a campsite, keeping devices charged on the trail, or building a solar backup system, the right gear makes all the difference. That's why we built OffGridPick.

Who Runs This Site

OffGridPick is run by one person, not a newsroom. There is no editorial team, no test lab, and no roster of staff reviewers. Everything published here is desk research: reading spec sheets, putting comparable units side by side, and working out what the numbers mean for a campsite, a van, or a power cut.

We do not have hands-on access to the products covered on this site. We have not opened them, run them, or measured them. Where an article describes how a product behaves, that description comes from the manufacturer's own documentation, from published third-party results, or from owners who have written publicly about living with it -- never from testing of our own. Our methodology page sets out exactly which sources we use and how the OffGridScore™ is calculated.

Our Mission

We help adventurers and off-grid enthusiasts make informed decisions about portable power stations, solar panels, camping generators, and battery packs. Every product we recommend goes through a thorough evaluation process that considers performance data, build quality, long-term costs, and real-world user experiences.

How We Review

Our review process is straightforward and research-based. We do not conduct our own physical product testing. Instead we work from manufacturer specifications, independent lab results published by third parties, pricing and ongoing cost comparisons, and documented owner feedback gathered from owner communities and public discussion. We look at the full picture -- not just the sticker price, but the total value over years of use.

We focus on the metrics that actually matter: battery capacity (Wh), output wattage, charge speed, weight, and battery chemistry (LiFePO4 vs Li-ion). No fluff, no filler -- just the numbers and facts you need.

What We Don't Do

• We don't test products ourselves, in a lab or anywhere else.
• We don't accept free review units, and we don't take payment for a place in a ranking.
• We don't have a sponsored-content or paid-placement program.
• We don't present a score as a measurement. It is a comparison built from published specifications, and the methodology page is explicit about where that breaks down.
